WHAT STUDENTS LEARN

Skills that become music.

Lessons combine technique, listening, reading and repertoire. Teachers adjust the balance to suit the student’s age, experience and musical goals.

01

Read fluently

Notes, clefs, key signatures, rhythm, rests and time signatures.

02

Build musical language

Scales, intervals, chords, cadences and common terms.

03

Think on the page

Analyse short extracts, organise ideas and answer clearly.

04

Connect theory to sound

Hear concepts in repertoire and use them in playing, singing and writing.

A TYPICAL FIRST YEAR

One year, four clear stages.

This is a practical guide, not a fixed promise. Starting level, attendance, practice and individual readiness shape the exact pace.

Months 1–3

Start strong

Notation basics, pulse, note values, clefs and accurate written habits.

Months 4–6

Build fluency

Major and minor scales, intervals, key signatures and transposition.

Months 7–9

Make it musical

Chords, cadences, musical terms, form and guided practice papers.

Months 10–12

Share and progress

Close knowledge gaps, improve speed and assess readiness for a Trinity grade.

EXAM PATHWAY

Progress with purpose.

We use current official syllabus information to guide exam preparation. The teacher recommends a board, grade and timeline after understanding the student’s level, goals and learning pace.
